Meets online beginning January 2023

TEST KITCHEN is an online writing group focused on productivity and accountability. We’ll meet on Zoom for deep-focus writing. We’ll start with a brief craft talk/discussion focused on a short reading, and I’ll offer an optional portal/prompt for the day’s writing. At the end of the six weeks, you and I will meet one-on-one to talk about your work and next steps.

This is a generative program rather than a workshop, but you’ll have the chance to read your writing aloud or post it in our our shared online space where we can comment and cheer you on.

You’ll use the online writing sessions to start 6 new fiction or nonfiction pieces, or to focus on work in progress. Either way, you’ll end the six weeks with many words on the page and plenty of momentum.

A second session is planned for March, so you can roll right on…

Is It Worth It? What can I expect working with Debra?

Former student Serwah Rose Afriyie offers a few thoughts…

. And some feedback from others…

“I loved it, especially the stuff we read. It was just such fertile clay…Thank you for creating such an encouraging environment.”

Exceeded my expectations, as far as how much I’ve learned and the impact it has had on me and my future writing. And how much fun it was.

“Hugely helpful, both as inspiration and in very tangible ways.”
